About me

Registered Counsellor MBACP (she/her)

Specialising in supporting survivors of trauma & abuse

A very warm welcome to you.

Looking for counselling can feel daunting. Even admitting you might need support can feel like a big step. That’s completely normal. The fact you’re here means you’ve already taken the first step, which is often the hardest, and you're ready to meet someone who can support you. So let me help you get a sense of who I am and how I work.

My name is Charly (she/her). Over the past 17 years I’ve worked across clinical, custodial and community mental health settings, supporting adults and young people with a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties. I also volunteer with a domestic violence charity, counselling women affected by domestic abuse.

My specialism is trauma. I work in a trauma-informed way, which means I hold a deep awareness of how trauma shapes our nervous systems, relationships, emotions and sense of self. Trauma’s impact is often wider and more subtle than people realise. You don’t have to arrive with a clear “trauma story”, many people come simply knowing something doesn’t feel right. Together, we can gently make sense of patterns, coping strategies and experiences in a way that feels safe and empowering.

I have ADHD myself and work affirmatively with other neurodivergent people, bringing both professional and lived understanding into the therapeutic space. Alongside my counselling work, I am trained in clinical supervision and offer a reflective, supportive space for other practitioners.

My counselling style is warm, collaborative and grounded in compassion. I aim to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, understood without judgement, and supported to move towards relief, strength and meaningful, lasting change. We work at your pace, with curiosity and care.

While much of my work centres around trauma and abuse, I am qualified to support a wide range of issues. You’re very welcome to get in touch and we can talk through what’s going on for you and whether I might be the right fit.

I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become Carl Junggavel
